Two Gigs - Sunday April 6th 2025

Started clearing out the shed on Monday in preparation for its demolition and replacement. Got copied in on a reply from the planning department to Building Control about the shed suggesting they should be able to handle my query. Went to see Hotwax at the Facebar in the evening. Met up with Russ and JR's crew in the Butler. It was a birthday bash for him as it's the following day. Rob C was also in there plus a few Rising Sunners. They were good but not as good as at EOTR. We missed the first support, second were The Pill. 2 young lasses and a bloke on drums. A bit noveltyish but I think they'll go places. M went to BRO on Tuesday morning and I waited in for the dishwasher man as we had a repeat of the E15 problem we had a couple of months ago. No charge this time. After I had a trip to the tip to dispose of a lot of junk from the shed. In the afternoon we went over to no81 to look after Owen as he'd been kept off nursery with a temperature. We took him to the park and he seemed fine but he had had some ibuprofen. He can easily climb the ladder and the rope ladder and come down the slide by himself now. Went to see Peat and Diesel at The Bullingdon in the evening. I was supposed to go with Chris Gavin but he's not well. Support was Cofy Feechan. OK in a later Fleetwood Mac kind of way. Just her on acoustic and an excellent guitarist, Roy Jarvis. He did some neat slide on one song but didn't retune or change guitars. Also the slide was quite short so he could still use the finger end I think. They also had some percussion but I couldn't make out how it was being done with just the two of them. Took a while to really enjoy Peat and Diesel as I seemed to be the only one who didn't know the words to sing along to. Really enjoyed them in the end though but did they have to do Country Roads? M went to BRO again on Wednesday morning. I did my Theale, Pangbourne, Mapledurham ride. Spotted my first gosling of the year. Got a call from Tom and Sally in the evening saying Sally has had 2 job offers, one in London and one in Melbourne. An AFD. Swimming on Thursday morning followed by more shed clearing activity. Got an email from building control saying we don't need to complete an application. Phew. Got a call from  Tom and Sally on Friday morning. She has accepted to London job. Took a load more stuff down the tip. Went to see URZ beat 3rd placed Wycombe 1 0 on Saturday. Scrappy game but a good atmosphere. Lots of fans stayed at the end to cheer on the team as they wallked round the pitch.
On Sunday as no one had organised a society walk so M suggested walking to the Fox and Hounds in Caversham. Stuart, Kelvin, Clair, Lindsey and Helen joined us. We'd had a couple when Fiona turned up shortly followed by Andy and June. As it was Fiona's birthday the next day she insisted on buying another round. It could have been dangerous but sense prevailed and we left it at that.
