A Busy Weekend - Sunday February 25th 2024

Had a walk out to the Loddon Brewery with the Eberlins on Wednesday. Then went to Pizza Express in the evening. They left midday on Thursday. Tony came round on Friday for a tribute night practice then I popped into The Retreat to see Andy. M started on the corrections for her PhD. Went to watch URZ lose at home to Shrewsbury 2 3 on Saturday. They were 2 0 down in 5 mins, pulled it back to 2 2 and looked like they would go on to win but then conceded just before half time. In the evening me and James met up with Tom in Hackney to see Speedy Ortiz at The Moth Club. Had a good pint and a burger first in The Old Ship. The band were realy good as were the support act Supermilk. It's an intetesting venue, an old servicemen's club still with a lot of the original decor and memorabilia. For once the stage times were emailed and they finished at 9 30 so it was easy to get back except we had to stand on the train as it was full of Arsenal fans. On Sunday I did the sound at RSAC for the Sunday Alternative then Tony came over so we could practice for tribute night. Sue was on the sliders.

Llangollen and Blackheath - Tuesday February 20th 2024

Didn't do much on Monday. Andy managed a ride on his Dawes. Tony came round on Tuesday afternoon to practise for tribute night. URZ picked up another point away to Fleetwood and are up to 16th. We drove to Anne and Wynns on Wednesday for some wedding planning. Meanwhile Owen went to the Brewdog.
On Thursday we went round Llantysilio Hall where the wedding party will take place and most of the extended Kelly clan will be staying. Had a meal in The Cornmill in the evening. On Friday we went to the caterers for a tasting session. All very good. On the way back we had a swifty in the Grosvenor Hotel in Chester where the actual wedding will be. Drove back on Saturday after breakfast.
We baby sat so James and Amy could go out for a meal with Warren and Mary Ellen. I also made my first ever cake for Sally's birthday.
Drove over to SET's on Sunday, staying at an AirBnB just round the corner. Went to Charlton Park with Edith for swingtime.
Tom and Sally went to the Sunday comedy at Up The Creek. They had a surprise guest that Tom thought might be Stephen Merchant but it was Rob Beckett. Edith was very noisey on her mum's birthday on Monday. Then her and het mum went swimming. We met them afterwards for great brunch at a place down in Grenwich called Black Eye. Then we walked back through Greenwich Park for more swingtime
and fine views. Then went back for present opening followed by an excellent raclette meal. Drove back on Tuesday morning. Took Warren to see URZ beat Port Vale 2 0. His first football match. The rearranged game after the abandonment. This time the protest was to show red cards after 16 mins.

Visitors From Canada - Sunday February 11th 2024

Had our usual walk into town with Owen on Monday morning. Took a snap of Owen on his front. Quite like his uncle Tom at a similar age.Did the usual walk into town on Tuesday morning. Just had a pop corn delivery at The Vue cinema.
Warren and Mary Ellen arrived on Wednesday morning. They are staying on Castle Crescent in an Air BnB but came her first. Finished off the Xmas jigsaw on Thursday. One piece missing
It was first Thursday drinks in the evening down the Nags. I left about 8 30 to see Courting at the Face Bar. I was a bit disappointed but really liked Flat Party who were supporting. Maybe had a pint too many. On Friday we went to The Narrowboat for a meal. We walked down with Warren and Mary Ellen and popped into the Retreat. Andy was in with Kelvin and Coxy. Steve was also in by coincidence on his way back from a walk with Patrick. They were very accommodating with the kids in The Narrowboat.  Meanwhile Edith had been enjoying the National Maritime Museum. On Saturday Madeline gad a clash of heads with Isla up at Prospect Park. She then fell over and hit her head again so ended up in AnE. She was let out after a couple of hours observation. We went over to Blackheath for some Edith sitting later as Tom and Sally were going to Harry's 30th. Great sunset.
Edith dressed for dinner. She has 2 teeth showing. URZ beat Charlton 2 0 and are now up to 18th. Got back mid afternoonon Sunday. James and Amy cooked a roast. Heard from Andy that he'd managed a ride on his  brompton up at the university.

Russ And Heather's Wedding - Sunday February 4th 2024

Owen had a bit of cough on Monday so he was booked into the doctors in the afternoon. We took him out in the morning and looked after Madeline in the afternoon whilst Amy took him to the docs. Took Owen into town as usual on Tuesday morning. His crawling is coming on. Tony came round in the afternoon and we worked on Days Of Future Past for tribute night. Did the usual walk with Owen on Wednesday morning and a bit of music in the afternoon. Did a variaton of the 5 hills ride on Thursday. Still a fair bit of flooding around the Kennet and the towpath is badly eroded in places.

It was meant to be first Thursday drinks on Thursday but JR said they couldn't make it due to a "family event". Turns out it was Russ and Heather's wedding.

JAMO went up to the natural history museum on Friday and met up with SET. We met up with Andy in The Retreat later. He's now walking without crutches. A lazyish day on Saturday. Madeline did beat me in a cycle race though. URZ managed a 1 1 draw at Oxford. Madeline has started potty training. Went to see Tom Webber at RSAC in the evening backed by Alan Caruso and Grace Pounds. All very good. Particularly Grace on only her 3rd gig. Went on the society walk on Sunday, organised by Clare and Stuart, round The Highwayman. There was a bit of flooding.
