Center Parcs - Sunday March 29th 2026

Warren, Mary Ellen, Amy and the kids came round late afternoon on Saturday. They had been into town. James came over later. He had been working and showing the buyers round the house. We had a takeaway from the Tasty Greek Souvlaki supplemented by home made hummus, tzatziki, Greek salad and chips. Good start to the day on Sunday, finished the quiptic in record time. Did some gardening then went over to no 81 for dinner. Owen can now jump.
Meanwhile, somewhere in Sheffield.
We drove over to Center Parcs in Sherwood Forest on Monday. Tom, Sally and Edith were already there. Tom made tuna pasta for tea and a relatively early night. Tom beat me in a tight game of crib. A full on day on Tuesday. Sub-tropical swimming paradise in the morning.
Had a couple of goes in the rapids. Edith then went in the creche in the afternoon and we played doubles badminton. We swapoed partners and Tom was on the winning side each time. Me and Tom then played singles. He won the first but I won the second. He was winning in the third but we got kicked off. We then had a few games of pool. I won the first 4 games, Tom won the fifth.  M and Sally went line dancing.
Stopped off in the play area on the way back. Cooked a chilli for tea. Had a few games on Mysterium Park after where one person is meant to be a ghost. We lost all 3 games.Tom beat me in another tight game of crib. Went to the SSP again on Wednesday morning. One of Sally's friends, Laura, came along with her husband Mark and baby Erin. I tried unsuccessfully to get on one  the Tropical Cyclone flume only to be told you can't go on by yourself. Tried a couple of the smaller ones but they are very narrow and dark and throw you around quite a bit. M went for a massage in the afternoon. We met up with the others in the Dozing Duck for a swifty. Tom cooked a stir fry for tea. Had another game of Mysterium Park which we won with M as the ghost. Tom beat me quite easily at crib. Another full on day on Thursday. We started off with owls which was very disappointing compared with Woburn last year.
Then went to the SSP via a play park. Edith managed to get to the top slide and come down by herself.
There was a notice outside the SSP saying that the Tropical Cyclone was closed so me, Tom and Sally went down the Grand Cascade. It did open later and nobody seemed to know so we managed 3 quick rides. In the afternoon me and Tom did the Aerial Adventure.
It ends with a zip wire going over the lake.
We went to the Dozing Duck early evening for an early birthday meal. Pretty good except for lack of a decent pint.Had nother game of Mysterium Park later with me as ghost which we lost. Tom completed the whitewash at crib. Had a quick visit to the SSP on Friday mornin so Tom and Sally could enjoy the flumes and rapids then headed home. A great little holiday. Stopped in at no 81 on the way back to pick up birthday cards made by  Madeline and Owen. James and Amy's pressie is to pay for a meal out in the Little Sister restaurant on Toronto. M got me a foot tambourine and Tom and Sally will give me their's next weekend. Madeline and Owen had been out on their bikes. Went to see URZ beat Wigan 3 0 on Saturday with Ralph. In the evening went to The Beat Connection at South Street organised by Heavy Pop. I missed Puma Theory as I've seen them a few times but saw Modern Woman, MOULD and Hot Wax. All good, MOULD probably the pick. JR was there with Karen, it was his birthday gig, also Penno and Clare and Alex and James from Bored Slippy. It turns out Alex and Karen worked with each other at John Lewis. A good start to the day on Sunday, finished the prize crossword and did the quiptic in  record time again. The no 81 crew came round for roast chicken later and brought cake.
