Went To See Edith - Sunday January 25th 2026

James brought the kids round on Monday morning as he was looking after them and their car needed to go in for a service. Picked up some framing from Ralph after. Tony came round later for a rehearsal. An AFD. Popped down to RSAC on Tuesday to take some stuff down the tip. Another AFD. Booked up some more of the Canada trip on Wednesday. Another AFD. Met Mike and Judy for lunch on Thursday at this newish pizza place called Zia Lucia. They do different bases including a charcoal one.
Having tried it I don't think I'd have it again as it doesn't taste any different but doesn't look as appetising. I went via RASC to pick up a new front door key and popped back after to fix a loose connector for the power socket on the mixing desk. Another AFD. Had a rehearsal at Pirate on Friday with Tony and Andy. Went to see URZ salvage a 2 2 draw against Barnsley on Saturday with Ralph. They were 1 0 up but then conceded 2 goals before equalising. Popped over to Greenwich on Sunday to see SET. Had a late lunch in Bill's.

Cataract Op - Sunday January 18th 2026

Tony came round in the afternoon for a rehearsal. Did a couple of songs on the dobro. An AFD. On Tuesday it was Carolyn Webb's funeral. It was family only but we watched the cortege leave the house and then went to the wake afterwards in The Rising Sun. They had framed pictures in the bar. A good turn out.
Did a ride out to the Sip And Spoke at Warren Row on Wednesday with Stuart, Kelvin and Graham. It was cold and foggy to start with but blue sky's when we got to higher ground. We did The Retreat quiz in the evening with Andy and Bobby. Came 2nd. Went swimming on Thursday morning. JAMO came over for tea. Had the cataract on my left eye sorted on Friday. Had to there at 7am. Op was about 9 30. The patch has to be worn for 24 hrs then at night in bed for 2 weeks. Also have drops to take 4 times a day for 4 weeks.A painless procedure but slightly uncomfortable. No heavy lifting, staining, hard cycling or swimming for 2 weeks. Went to RSAC on Saturday to do a training session for 3 new sound team members. Hope I didn't put them off. Lazy day on Sunday.

A Quiet Start To The Year - Sunday January 11th 2026

Took down the Christmas decorations on Monday. James popped round with the kids for an hour or so in the afternoon as they had the cleaners in. Went to a meeting at RSAC in the evening. An AFD. Had a bit of snow on Tuesday morning. When M was tidying up the old office she found that the futon mattress had been nibbled a bit. Hopefully this was down to the mice we had  while ago. Anyway I took it down the tip. Another AFD.
Had a haircut on Wednesday and popped into RSAC to check out the area where the drums are kept. Another AFD. Went swimming on Thursday morning. Went to The Fox And Hounds in the evening for first Thursday drinks. Tom went to see Arsenal v Liverpool with Josh. A 40th birthday present from Anne. On Friday went to RSAC for a maintenance day. Popped into RSAC again on Saturday for more tidying. Tony popped in to advise about the electrics.
Reapplied for my driving licence. Lazy day Sunday mostly playing guitar.

Christmas And New Year - Sunday January 4th 2026.

On Monday we heard the very sad news that Carolyn Webb had died. James popped round with some ham for us to try and to print off the Canadian crossword. M went out for lunch with Mandy and Fiona. I did a ride out to Maker Space with Kelvin and Stuart. Amy popped round with more ham on Tuesday morning as I ate most of the previous batch. Spent most of the day doing Christmas prep. On Cristmas Eve we picked Madeline and Owen up from nursery. Warren and Mary Ellen came round for tea. James and Amy picked the kids up and then the grandparents went to Derek and Steve's party.
On Christmas Day we went over to no 81.
On Boxing Day we all went to the Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham to stretch our legs. Had a swifty in The Rowbarge on the way back. On Christmas Eve I'd been chatting to Steve from round the corner and he told me he had a friend who had gone into a home and that he had a lot of musical equipment that needed to be disposed of. This included a dobro that he said I could have and he brought it round on Saturday. It's one that is designed to be played on the lap. Sounds great. SET arrived about 7pm. I stayed up too late with Tom. On Sunday JAMO came over and we had an Ounsley family Christmas. Everyone stayed over. This was our present to Edith. The young uns met up with Josh and Vic in Caversham for a walk to Loddon Brewery on Monday. After we all went to see the Christmas lights in The Forbury followed by Pizza Express.
On Tuesday we took Edith over to no 81 for a few hours.
In the evening Tom and Sally went over to Josh and Vics. They went back on Wednesday. We had pizzas at no 81 and stayed over. We looked after the kids on New Year's Day as James and Amy went up to London to meet the gang for lunch. We took them into town on the bus then walked back to ours and got the bus back to theirs. Friday was a lazy day. On Saturday we took Madeline to see Beauty And The Beast at The Hexagon.
M went on the society walk on Sunday. I went to Mark and Cathy's down the street for champagne and sausage sandwiches before going to watch URZ beat Stockport 1 0. A great end to the festive season.
