A Quiet Week - Sunday September 8th 2024

Started writing up the festival blog on Tuesday and finished putting everything away. Tony came round in the afternoon for a quick rehearsal. Went for a swim on Wednesday morning then popped over to check on no 81. Finished off the festival blog. We were supposed to be playing an open mic at The Foresters in the evening but it was cancelled through lack of interest. Noticed on Thursday that we are still paying council tax the flat. Bit of a palaver to let the council know as its not a standard interaction. Had to phone up then email details including proof of sale. Very wet day as was Friday but to a lesser extent. Meanwhile in Blackheath the pace of life was slowed down by geese. It was also Owen's first birthday. We had a call and sang happy birthday to him which he seemed to appreciate but he to take some things out of a box and put them back again. Went down to the Retreat for an hour or so early evening. Some birthday photos arrived on Saturday morning featuring bubbles.
Went to Larry's birthday picnic on Saturday down by Rivermead. This involved an old style jumpers for goalposts football match. Unfortunately I strained my groin doing an ambitious shot on the turn. We were woken up about 2am on Sunday morning by an incredibly loud thunderstorm. Here's a map showing strikes.
Wandered to The Forbury on Sunday afternoon as there was supposed to be a picnic going on for those involved in creating the various murals arohbd Reading. We couldn't find it though.
