Went to see Andy on Monday. He had had a family trip out to Newbury at the weekend and there are a couple more trips planned so our trip obviously sparked things off. He's now walking with a frame, can stand for 10 seconds and his hands are getting better. On Tuesday flew out to Nice. All very straightforward. Met up with Tom, Sally and Edith (SET) for a great meal in the old town at Chez Palmyre. One of those formulas the French do so well.
Went back to their place afterwards and admired Edith's rolling.
On Wednesday had a bit of a wander in the morning followed by a spot of lunch then out to a beach on the bus. Had my first dip in the sea since 2017 I think.
Public transport is pretty good. Tram from the airport, bus out to the beach, all very modern and quite joined up ticket wise. Quite a few cycle lanes too. The ride to the beach was just like being on the French Riviera. Tom cooked some pasta in the evening. On Thursday went up the big hill.
Then a really nice lunch at a more upmarket restaurant in the old town called Olive & Artichaut. Did a bit more wandering after. We are staying right next to the harbour.
There were quite a few expensive looking yachts like the one in the background. It's called the Kaiser and can be hired for €550,000 a week. Went to watch the sunset which is a bit of an event.
Snacked and played cards chez SET afterwards. Flew back on Friday morning.
Great place, great weather, great little break. Watched the rugby world cup quarter finals on Saturday and Sunday. Wales, Ireland and France out but England through.
