Coronavirus - Monday February 6th 2023

Its time to get active again after a relaxing week due to knee trouble and cold weather so did my 5 hills ride on Monday morning. I was fine on the ride but my knee was a bit saw afterwards. In the evening the boiler stopped working. Called a CH man out on Tuesday and the problem seemed to be related to a blocked cold feed into the system from the header tank. Heard that Graham Bates had covid. Went to the Butler in the afternoon to check out the function room. Sally had her other scan.

Lazy day on Wednesday. Went for a ride out to The Four Points with Kelvin and Stuart on Thursday and had first Thursday drinks in the Greyfriars in the evening. Maybe had 1 too many so had a bit of a lie in on Friday. I've had a tickly cough for a few days and also a bit of a loss of taste so thought I'd better do a covid test. I was negative. Went for a swim in the afternoon. My knee seemed fine after both the ride snd the swim. I helped with the sound at RASC in the evening. It was a gig for independent venues week. I got a T-shirt this time. They had them last year but they'd missed RSAC off so I didn't bother. First band were As Loud As A Mouse. I'd seen them before at Double Dot Bash. They're billed as a 2 piece. Guitarist and singing drummer. Each time I've seen them they've had a separate drummer though. The first time it was because the drummer/singer had been in a car crash but now he has MS. I like them. Next were This, bass, drums, keys and guitarist/singer. A full echoy sound. Finally Cities in Dust, bass, drums, guitarist and singer with some laptop stuff going on. Good sound and good songs. Heard whilst I was there that Tony was in the Royal Berks having had a mild heart attack. Drove over to Tom and Sally's on Saturday. Watched England lose to Scotland at the rugby, went down the Green Goddess for a couple of pints and then back for an excellent meal. On Sunday did a walk along the river in the winter sunshine and took photos to prove it.
Lost of people were on skateboards and bikes along one stretch. This guy belonged to the Fixed Pirates
This and the 2 below were from outside the Cutty Shark pub.

Stopped off for a few pints on the way at the Pilot, Brewing By Numbers brewery and the Cutty Sark. I just love it down there. Went for pinzas after and then on to Up The Greek for Sunday night comedy. The headliner was Ed Gamble and John Robins was the compere.  He was the pick for me. There was also Cylea AB, a young aussie guy who was a bit manic and another woman but I can't remember there names or find them anywhere. Drove back on Monday morning. We went through London on the way there and back which is slow but much more interesting than bombing round the M25.  We didn't use the train as there had been strikes and the  Elizabeth line wasn't open. Great weekend.
