Coronavirus - Sunday 14th February 2021

We've decided we have enough material to go ahead with the February Lockdown Festival so I've let all the contributors know and emailed potential festival goers. The initial response has been good. Also tried looking for a place to stay next Christmas. Most places are asking fir non-refundable deposits now. There's been a lot of snow around the country but not here. M cooked a fine chicken and mushroom pie for tea. I started recording a new song and everything was going fine until my laptop refused to recognise the zoom mic anymore. I think its a dodgy usb connector in the mic so may need to replace. Watched Signs using the projector and a screen we have just bought. Pretty good experience. Went for a walk in the cold on Wednesday. Did the loop round to Southcote Lock but came back along the disused railway line to knob end. This could be one reason why Fobney Meadow floods every year.We sat in on a zoom talk about old roads that looked interesting but they were just trying get volunteers to work on a project. They mentioned using Slack which sent shivers down my spine. Watched Reading vs Brentford in the evening we were doing OK went 1 0 up and were looking the better side but they equalised a bit later. In the second half they started to pile on the pressure and we held out tothe 86th minute then lost 3 1. Brentford are a good side. I thought they'd get promoted last year I'm sure they will this. 21 games unbeaten. Then had a goolie zoom.
On Thursday I did some touching up of the hearth with spray paint we had been given.
We got a letter apologising for the late delivery of TnS's parcel. They didn't blame it all on covid. Sent us a presentation set of 10 national parks stamps worth £9.40. The Bluetooth speakers arrived and they sound good but break up a lot in stereo mode. There are suggestions on how this can be fixed so looking into it. Heard from John that he's been invited for an AstraZeneca jab. Rick has just had a Pfizer. Went down the virtual Hop Leaf in the evening with K and A. On Thursday morning my priority was to try and get the Bluetooth speakers working It didn't seem to have worked until I tried it in situ in the front room and all was well. Not sure why it was working down there and not in the music room. Lets see how it pans out in the next couple of days. My replacement zoom mic also seem to work fine. Some good news is that Andy's daughter Jessica game birth this morning. They knew she was a girl and she weighed in at 8lbs 4oz. No name as yet but a palindromic birthday 12022021. Andy and Jeannie will be able to visit as apparently you can form a bubble with a family with a child under one year old.  Greg has also been invited fir a jab. Did the Southcote Lock walk and took some atmospheric pictures.Spotted a few instances of this where the water level seems to have dropped leaving an ice collar. Sometime last year I pointed out that they had opened up the road next to the kissing gate to Coley Park but they've closed it off again for some reason.
Had an amuzing zoom with TnS in the evening. They are doing a lot of decorating. Parquet floor looking good and lots of painting going on. Good news on Saturday, got a letter to book an appointment for my covid jab. Booked in at the Basingstoke vaccination centre on Monday at 3:45. Second one also booked for 3rd May at the same time. Could have waited for the GP to get in touch but thought I'd get it done ASAP. A good start to the day on Sunday, baked fresh bread for breakfast. Had a socially distanced pancake race down the street on Sunday. We lost to Derek and Steve, the eventual winners. My legs dont know how to sprint any more.Worked on the FLF schedule in the afternoon. M did salmon en croute lovely.
