On Monday I went on a ford spotting ride to Bagnor just the other side of Newbury. On the way out I passes Englefield Park. I new they had deer there didn't realuse how many. Not sure if you can make them out on the photo.
Also spotted this fine hedge in the Lambourne valley.
There were meant to be 2 fords on by way near the Watermill Theatre but they dont exist any more. There are just bridges.
l had planned to get a train back from Newbury but I timed it wrong and would have had a long wait so I cycled on to Thatcham. This reminded me of the times I visited my mum. Sometimes I would cycle over and get the train back. There were always delays and things haven't changed. Got my ticket inspected as soon as I got on which I also wasn't expecting. There were quite a lot of people waiting which I also wasn't expecting. On Tuesday I had another unsuccessful ford spotting trip to Wraysbury. I used to work with someone from Wraysbury and as she drove a land ranger I kind of assumed it was one of those really up market places like Bray. Turns out that's not the case. One of those places where all the houses are different and not very attractive, something I spotted on some of my Thames path walks. I couldn't find the ford either but I must take responsibility for that as it turned out I was looking in the wrong place. When I tried to check its wherabouts my phone died, my fault again. So I might have to go back. There were a lot of cyclists out all along the route. I got a train back from Staines. Dont even have any pictures because of the phone. The Chrustmas rules for covid were announced. 3 households can mix between 23rd and 27th December but don't know the full details yet. We had a power cut just after 8 30 pm. There had been one earlier in other parts of the street and the lights had been flickering during the evening. M reported it and it came back on about 9 20. However I woke up in the night and checked my alarm clock to see what time it was and it wasn't on so I reported it again. They said there was a cable problem they were trying to sort out and it should be back on within the hour. More explanation of the Christmas rules this morning. You cant change your household mixes. So say 3 households mix on one day they cant go and mix with different households on another. You can still mix with larger numbers outside though. Great activity in the garden this morning. Now I've started feeding the birds again its become a popular spot. This in turn attracted a sparrow hawk this morning. Either a juvenile or a female, probably the latter. The fat balls are attracting jackdaws. That's good as they make a mess on the ground that gets eaten by blackbirds and the like that don't go on feeders.
Went for a quick ride along the Kennet to Burghfield and back through Green Park. Kelvin popped round with some 1845 which was on offer at Waitrose. Ian published
Like A Hurricane on Soundcloud. Had a zoom with the goolies in the evening. On Thursday they announced the tiers we are to be in in England after lockdown. Reading and Greenwich are both in tier 2 which means no household mixing indoors. When for quick ride through Green Park and back down Shinfield Rd. Got my second covid puncture near the uni. This time in the back wheel so decided to walk back and fix it at home. M had been for a run. Very nice, sunny afternoon but it soon cooled down. Had a zoom with James and Amy in the evening to discuss Xmas. As things stand they cant leave their council area so would have to travel in the Xmas period, 23rd to 27th Dec which isn't that appealing as every one else will be. They come out of their lockdown on 11th Dec so we'll have to see what happens then. Our tiering will be reviewed on 16th so Xmas is on hold as far as they are concerned. Went for a quick early ride along the Kennet on Friday morning. It was cold and misty.
We have reluctantly decided to postpone the Pirate Studios session scheduled for 4th December as no indoor house mixing is allowed. The others were prepared to go ahead which I was OK with but it was decided to move it to the 18th in the hope we will be in tier 1 after the tiers are reviewed. I put a basic track of Killing Floor into Soundtrap and have suggested we play around with that until we can play together. Seems to have been quite well received. M had an early evening zoom social with her UC team. Did a salad nicoise with fresh tuna and chips, very tasty. A good start to the day on Saturday, finished the prize crossword before we got up. Watched Reading vs Bristol City with a one day Sky pass. Won 3 1. Played well. M's quilt is coming on.
My Berkshire Beer Box arrived on Sunday morning.
Had a bit of lazy day. Baked bread and did roast pork for tea.
