Belford and Sheffield - Sunday March 17th 2024

Drove up to Northumberland on Friday for the annual society walking week. Stayed at Middleton Hall just outside Belford.Walked  to St Cuthbert's Cave on Saturday followed by a few pints in The Black Swan in Belford. Went back again in the evening to see this guy.
On Sunday a few of us walked to Bamburgh in the rain. We had to cross the A1 then the main railway line. Had to phone first to check it was OK then after to let them know we'd crossed safely. The others drove there and went round the castle. Then we had a meal in The Potted Lobster. On Monday we walked to the coast opposite Lindisfarne.Went  to Craster in the evening for a meal at The Jolly Fishermans.The sea was quite choppy.
On Tuesday M went home with Mandy as did Bobby and Fiona. I did a walk along the coast with Stuart and Clare from Low Newton to Craster and back.Took this when we got back to Low Newton and the tide was up. Then got Steve to remove the people and dogs using his phone.

On Wednesday four of us did a walk from Wooler to the twin peaks of Yeavering Bell and back.I left on Thursday morning to break my journey at Ian and Fran's. Everyone else was going to Lindisfarne. I was sad to hear that one of their dogs, Cuba, is no more. Had a few pints and a nice burger down the Stags Head. Heard from Tom that Fiona (Sally's mum) had broken her arm after falling off a stool whilst gardening. Got home about 4 on Friday. James and Amy had found a house they liked in Church End Lane in Tilehurst and went for a second viewing. We then joined them for a pizza at Versuvio which was excellent. On Saturday went to see URZ beat the Us 4 0. Good game with some great goals. Meanwhile SET are at Anne and Wynns.
On Sunday Madeline played some bluegrass. I cleaned the patios. Owen really enjoyed his carrot and pasta.
SET are now in Liverpool.

Thursday March 7th 2024

Did my 5 hills ride on Monday afternoon. Still a lot of flooding out that way including just before the bridge over the railway at Green Park. Not seen that before. Took Owen into town on Tuesday morning and spotted this new piece of artwork.Its a singer called Heather Small. The QR code at the bottom links to this Youtube video. It was painted by David Speed. Meanwhile SET are visiting Sally's uncle in Tenby.
Took Owen for a walk early Wednesday morning as Amy was staying at nursery for a mums play with kids session. Cycled out to Blue Tin farm after and met up with Mike Rowbottom. It was a lovely day. Brought out the celendines and the periwinkles.Unfortunately the house JnA were trying to buy has fallen  through. It needed a fair bit of work doing on it and the seller wouldn't drop the price enough for it to be worth their while. Its Owen's 6 month birthday today. Took him to the Robert Hewitt park. Took Owen into town on Thursday. Spotted these signs.The QR code links to this website. These signs are for St James' Way. 68 miles from Reading to Southampton. Iron Maiden - Sunday March 3rd 2024

I planned to do my ride out to Playhatch on Monday morning but was thwarted by flooding on the Thames.

Instead I went the other way and did a loop out to Mapledurham. I got nap trapped by Owen in the afternoon and Amy took Madeline to softplay. M went to the Biscuit Factory to watch All Of Us Strangers with Mandy and Fiona. Got up early on Tuesday to take the car in for its MOT and service. Took Owen to the shops in the morning and to the park in the afternoon.


Car got through the MOT but it cost just under £500. Took Owen for a walk to RSAC on Wednesday morning to pick up some glasses I had left there. We came back through town. Took him to Coley Park in the afternoon.


Took him for a walk along the Kennet on Thursday. Me and M came second in the Castle Tap leap day quiz in the evening. On Friday afternoon I had a tribute night practice at Pirate with Tony. SET embarked on their UK tour.


On Saturday me, James and Owen had a thwarted walk along the Kennet so walked along the Holybrook instead.

Josh, Vick and Isla came round in the afternoon. SET have got to Andy and Em's. It was Iron Maiden Tribute Night at RSAC in the evening. I was doing the sound as well as playing with Tony.


We did Sanctuary and The Days Of Future Past. A few mistakes and couldn't hear much in the monitors but we were well received (but everyone is). Sunny day on Sunday, went to Coley Park with JAMO.

A Busy Weekend - Sunday February 25th 2024

Had a walk out to the Loddon Brewery with the Eberlins on Wednesday. Then went to Pizza Express in the evening. They left midday on Thursday. Tony came round on Friday for a tribute night practice then I popped into The Retreat to see Andy. M started on the corrections for her PhD. Went to watch URZ lose at home to Shrewsbury 2 3 on Saturday. They were 2 0 down in 5 mins, pulled it back to 2 2 and looked like they would go on to win but then conceded just before half time. In the evening me and James met up with Tom in Hackney to see Speedy Ortiz at The Moth Club. Had a good pint and a burger first in The Old Ship. The band were realy good as were the support act Supermilk. It's an intetesting venue, an old servicemen's club still with a lot of the original decor and memorabilia. For once the stage times were emailed and they finished at 9 30 so it was easy to get back except we had to stand on the train as it was full of Arsenal fans. On Sunday I did the sound at RSAC for the Sunday Alternative then Tony came over so we could practice for tribute night. Sue was on the sliders.

Llangollen and Blackheath - Tuesday February 20th 2024

Didn't do much on Monday. Andy managed a ride on his Dawes. Tony came round on Tuesday afternoon to practise for tribute night. URZ picked up another point away to Fleetwood and are up to 16th. We drove to Anne and Wynns on Wednesday for some wedding planning. Meanwhile Owen went to the Brewdog.
On Thursday we went round Llantysilio Hall where the wedding party will take place and most of the extended Kelly clan will be staying. Had a meal in The Cornmill in the evening. On Friday we went to the caterers for a tasting session. All very good. On the way back we had a swifty in the Grosvenor Hotel in Chester where the actual wedding will be. Drove back on Saturday after breakfast.
We baby sat so James and Amy could go out for a meal with Warren and Mary Ellen. I also made my first ever cake for Sally's birthday.
Drove over to SET's on Sunday, staying at an AirBnB just round the corner. Went to Charlton Park with Edith for swingtime.
 Tom and Sally went to the Sunday comedy at Up The Creek. They had a surprise guest that Tom thought might be Stephen Merchant but it was Rob Beckett. Edith was very noisey on her mum's birthday on Monday. Then her and het mum went swimming. We met them afterwards for great brunch at a place down in Grenwich called Black Eye. Then we walked back through Greenwich Park for more swingtime
and fine views.Then went back for present opening followed by an excellent raclette meal. Drove back on Tuesday morning. Took Warren to see URZ beat Port Vale 2 0. His first football match. The rearranged game after the abandonment. This time the protest was to show red cards after 16 mins.
