We had the hawthorn tree removed on Monday.

Unfortunately their chipper broke down which slowed them up so they're coming back to remove the rest of the stump on Thursday.

Me and Tony had a rehearsal in the afternoon then did the open mic at the Castle Tap. Not many in this month and slightly over shadowed by a women in the pub who seemed to have mental health issues. The police were called a couple of times and eventually took her away I think. I found this on thr NHS website which seemed appropriate.
Anyway we did Down The Castle Tap, Keep The Skinheads Bowling, It Didn't Look Like That On The Map and Be My Downfall. Michelle who performs in MnN (Michelle and Nigel) does sketches and produced this.
Went swimming on Tuesday morning, bit of a lazy day after that. My phone fell in the loo on Tuesday night but seemed OK however on Wednesday morning it was completely dead. Went for a ride to Mattingley with Kelvin and Stuart. Heard my first cuckoo of the year. James, Madeline and Owen came over for tea. Amy had been working in Birmingham and came round when she got back. My phone was a bit better on Thursday morning. Instead of a black screen it was white. It responded to the emergency boot up and I tried to type in the pass code but gave up after a couple of failures. Silica gel packets arrived later so but the phone in that. Chap came to remove the rest of the tree stump in the afternoon.
It was first Thursday drinks at the Fox and Hounds in the evening. Full turn out except for Dave Barlow who had train problems. Had a practice for Tribute night on Friday afternoon at Pirate. The theme this time is Live Aid as it'll be the 40th anniversary this summer. We're doing Every Breathe You Take and Message In A Bottle. EBYT went surprisingly well but it took a while to settle on a key for MIAB. We eventually went for Am or 4 semitones down from the original. Tom came over on Saturday morning. He was going to Josh's 40th which started off with 4-side at the Rivermead. Meanwhile Edith was baking.
Went to the footy later, Great atmosphere before the game. Sun shining, there had been an announcement that Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair were taking over the club and they were there.

We could have got into the playoffs if we'd got more points than Leyton Orient on the day but unfortunately they won and we lost and when we left the ground it was cold and the sun had gone in so it was an afternoon of 2 halves. 21,481 there. I was doing sound after at RSAC. Turned up about 5 30 but my front door key wouldn't work. I had no phone so couldn't contact anyone. Eventually about an hour later Alex Burton turned up with another key but that wouldn't work either. He contacted Larry who thought maybe someone had put the latch on. Eventually Joe turned up who Larry thought had a backdoor key. He didn't but managed to break in through a toilet window. By now we were well behind schedule for setting up and sound checks but managed OK in the end. Andy Raven started things off, I saw him about 20 years ago at South Street and I'd taken the old ipod along to play background music and spotted an Andy Raven album on there. He was good, played fiddle and guitar both through pedals and a looper so used the same DI. Sarah Lambert-Gates was up next either acapella or playing her banjola which was just mic'd. Then it was Daughter Of The Water which was her and a chap called Bones who plays acoustic guitar also mic'd. A guy called Paul also accompanied everyone on recorder from time to time. Very good. It was a beltane festival. Did a society walk on Sunday morning, 6 miles based round The Highwayman. Didn't stay for lunch as had the first HCTS meeting later. Me and James picked up a butler sink from Mandy's on Monday morning. M wants to use it as a planter. Went round to no 81 for pizzas in the evening.
