Edith Sitting - Sunday April 27th 2025

Lazy day on Monday. Amy popped round to pick up the jet wash and gave me a lift back to pick up the car. Keith and Fiona popped round later to drop off Tom's jacket that he'd left at their place. I discovered H chords.

On Tuesday Larry from RSAC asked if me and Tony would like to do support for Aly Koh on Saturday night so we've agreed to do it. Went to visit SET on Tuesday afternoon. We are staying to look after Edith whilst Tom and Sally go away for a couple of nights to stay in  hotel. It was a wedding present they bought for Ewan and Charlotte but they won't be able to use it as they now have Winnie. Edith was at nursery on Wed and Thurs so we had the days to ourselves. Did a walk along part of the river Ravensbourne on Wednesday. Its part of the Waterlink Way which is 8 miles.

 

We joined at Catford and walked to the Thames (almost) where it becomes Deptford Creek. Some is just urban where the river can't be accessed but its well signposted. On Thursday we went round Eltham Palace. Some fine views of London including this press to play go button at Canary Wharf.

On Friday morning we took Edith to the play area in Greenwich park. We got there about 9 30 only to find it didn't open until 10. Edith was quite happy just wandering around until it opened though. 

She did nod off in the pushchair on the way back. Tom and Sally got back around lunchtime and we got home about 3 30. Edith is very easy to look after. On Saturday afternoon Tony came round for a rehearsal in the afternoon. In the evening we were support for Aly Koh, I was also doing sound. She was singing and her husband played guitar. Both from Singapore and her first gig in the UK. About 20 in the audience, mostly friends so good atmosphere and they are a nice couple. She has a great voice and he's an excellent guitarist but his main instrument is drums. We did OK, made a few mistakes inevitably. The main problem was when I changed from playing Tony's guitar back to slide I didn't hang it on the stand correctly and it fell over. When I came to play it again whilst tuning I realised one of the tuning pegs had broken off.

Left the gear set up as I was also doing sound for the Sunday Alternative the next day. JAMO came round for roast chicken in the evening. They think Madeline has chickenpox.

Easter - Sunday April 20th 2025

Took the shed down on Monday. It was surprisingly easy, only took a couple of hours. Roof first, then the side with the window, the other side, the front, back and then floor. 

The hardest bit is going to be getting it all down the tip. Made one trip in the afternoon but couldn't get that much in as I already had James's old lawnmower. An AFD. Took the rest of the shed and the paving slabs it was sitting on down the tip on Tuesday. Needed 3 trips. Another AFD. Chap came to do a survey for the shed on Wednesday morning.

Me and Tony played at the folk night at the Volunteer in Theale in the evening. We did Rooster and Spider.

Went down well. Similar set up to the Castle Tap except they just went clockwise round the room. Quite a lot

of background chatter to start with but that was mainly from diners down the other end of the pub. Once they went it got better. Andy Coltman joined us. We went on the bus but unfortunately the bus back didn't run due to something called roadworks so we walked to the station and got the train.  Went swimming on Thursday morning then popped into town to get some shorts and a leg of lamb for Sunday. Hi fives on Friday morning.

Went to see URZ lose to Lincoln in the afternoon. Unfortunately Leyton Orient won so we lost our play off spot on goal difference. Big crowd though, 16,388.

On  Saturday afternoon popped down to the Retreat to see The Keith Allen Band (not the actor), part of the Easter Village Festival. Good guitarist but otherwise just OK so didn't stay for the second set. Went back to the Lyndhurst later to see Heather Jayne and the Red Shoes. Much better. Swing band with drums, double bass and electric guitar with female vocalist also playing sax, clarinet and kazoo. Great atmosphere with quite a few people dancing.

On Sunday went over to no 81 for Easter Sunday roast lamb with SET.
